Korean-born player Danny Lee (New Zealand) expressed regret over his second round performance at the LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament.
On the second day of the championship held at the Hong Kong Golf Club (par 70·6,711 yards) on Sunday, Lee had three birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey to post a one-over 71. He tied for 32nd with 3-under 137 overall in the first and second rounds. His ranking, which was tied for 8th at 4-under on the previous day, dropped significantly.
Danny Lee, who has won the LIV Golf Championship in March 2023, said in a post-match interview, "I'm a little disappointed," adding, "I started well yesterday, but my condition was a little bad today, and the game didn't work out because I tried to do well."
"It's not too bad overall, but I'm upset because it's shaking when I can catch it," he said, adding, "I think I'll do well if I make a top score once, but I think the only way is to work hard."
Looking back on his second round match, Danny Lee said, "It was a day where everything was a little less, including drivers, iron shots, and putts," and added, "I hope tomorrow will be a little better than today."
Jang Yoo-bin, who played with Danny Lee on the day, tied for second place with three consecutive birdies at three holes after the start of the second round, and then lost eight pars to finish in 51st place. Asked if he was affected by the ups and downs of his companions, Danny Lee said, "It's not like that, but I think it's because we tried to do it with each other's strength, but the sport of golf might not work at some point."
Danny Lee, who is currently four strokes apart from the joint seventh-place players, vowed to do well on the last day, saying, "Once we reduce six to seven strokes tomorrow, we will be able to enter the 'top 10' target." 메이저놀이터
